About the presenters:

Rick MedranoRick Medrano is the Patron Services Supervisor for the Erie Community Library Branch of the High Plains Library District. Rick started in libraries in 2010 at the Salida Regional Library before moving to Greeley. At HPLD, he has served in a variety of positions including paging, working in the Virtual Library and Mobile Services department, and as an Outreach Librarian. As an Outreach Librarian, Rick focused on connecting transitional and reentry populations with library services and in formalizing data collection and analysis processes with the MOVE Department. He has passion for serving underrepresented populations, library advocacy, and serviceĀ evaluation. Rick holds BAs in Sociology and History from the University of Northern Colorado, an MA in Sociology (Applied Emphasis) from the University of Northern Colorado, and an MLS from Emporia State University.

Elena RosenfeldElena Rosenfeld serves as the Community Engagement & Strategies Manager for the High Plains Library District.Ā  When looking at partnership opportunities, she pulls from past work experiences as a Children’s Librarian, Department Head, Library Manager, and Associate Director in various library environments.Ā Ā When not at work and not at home playing computer games, you might find Elena hiking around the state or in other countries where there are nifty views and animals to be seen.

 

Carolyn ValenciaCarolyn Valencia (she/her/ella) is an Outreach Librarian for the High Plains Library District (HPLD) specializing in early literacy. SheĀ identifies as Spanish and Native American. Earning her MLIS in 2019 from Emporia State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Santa Clara University in 1998, Carolyn shares her passion for the arts and multiliteracies (primarily physical and self-literacy) with her diverse community members in Greeley, Colorado. With this life-long passion for physical literacy, Carolyn pursued careers in dance and Bikram Yoga before libraryland. In 2014, she created HPLDā€™s first yoga storytime and has implemented these at the Colorado Early Education Network Head Starts in Weld County and the Little Learnerā€™s Preschool at the Immigrant and Refugee Center of Northern Colorado. In 2019, she became a certified Stories, Songs, and Stretches!Ā® Facilitator. She strives to provide diverse and inclusive programming to her community as a co-facilitator of Rainbow Storytimes and Letā€™s Talk About Race Storytimes. Currently, she is working on a 3-month series family book club called Widening the Window. Carolyn celebrates with her tribe and loves rodeos and fire ceremonies.

Brittany RainesBrittany Raines is the MOVE Manager at High Plains Library District.Ā  She started as a Page in 2013 and then held multiple positions in the Outreach Department.Ā  In 2020, she became the Outreach Manager, and, in the summer of 2020, the Events and Experience team was added to the department and the department officially became MOVE (Mobile, Outreach, Virtual and Events/Experiences).Ā  Brittany has a B.A. in Sociology and an MLS from Emporia State.Ā  She enjoys building data systems to assist in the evaluation of MOVEā€™s library services.Ā  Brittany loves to garden in her free time.
