Facilitator: Elektra Greer
Elektra Greer is the Head of the Children’s and Teen Department at the Longmont Public Library, which received both National (2016 Finalist for National Medal for Museum and Library Service), and State recognition (2015 Colorado Association of Libraries’ Program of the Year Award) for its work with children and teens on the Autism Spectrum. Her team helped launch BiBli, the first circulating library social robot of its kind, designed in collaboration with teens on the Autism spectrum and ROBAUTO, a Boulder-based robotics company. Since then, Longmont Public Library has experienced a significant increase and diversification in its collaborative role in the community, becoming one of the more sought-after partners for both special needs populations and entrepreneurial collaborations. Elektra’s library team is currently keeping busy launching an outpost library at the City’s Recreation Center. She is working on her upcoming memoir, Life after BiBli: now what? a genre-bending, graphic novel, parenting, DIY, coming-of-age tale between a librarian her algorithmically imperfect robot.
