Librarians have debated both the philosophy and financial role of charging fines and fees for late, lost, and damaged materials for decades. The topic is still critical today as fines and fees pose a significant barrier to library use, especially for low-income families.

Join us for this interactive session as we explore research on the benefits of eliminating fines and fees, learn from one library district that has tracked the positive effects of eliminating fines for  2 years, and brainstorm with each other about the challenges and benefits to eliminating fines and fees.
