Digital Equity Plan for Colorado with Melanie Colletti
November 9, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm MST
Melanie Colletti from Colorado’s Office of the Future of Work will present the state’s Digital Equity Plan to Colorado libraries in this webinar. Libraries are in a unique position as anchor institutions throughout metropolitan, rural, mountain, and remote areas of the state to access funding, partnerships, and other resources through the federal and state investment in digital inclusion efforts.
Digital literacy and access to the internet are considered a “super social determinant of health.” They are the backbone for all other social determinants of health (economic sustainability, health care system, community and social context, food, education, neighborhood and physical environment). To ensure the health of its communities and economy, Colorado has taken strategic steps towards digital equity: a state in which all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy and economy.
The OFW partners with the Colorado Broadband Office, Colorado Center on Law and Policy, Colorado Department of Higher Education, Colorado Department of Education Office of Adult Education Initiatives, Colorado Workforce Development Council, community based organizations, stakeholders, and others to research digital literacy.
